Happy world turtle day everyone!
The day is to encourage us all to respect, learn about and protect one of the worlds oldest creatures. The American Tortoise Rescue (ATR) is sponsoring its 13th annual world turtle day! You can find out more about them here. I have learnt so much since we got my pet turtles just under a year ago. They are lovely little creatures and mine are growing huge really quickly.
When we got them they lived on the boat for a little bit…
They were so tiny back then. As they started to grow and we learnt more about their needs, we decided it would be best that they live in the flat and they had a little aquarium.
A few months ago I was marvelling at how much they’d grown…
But then today, when we cleaned them out I was blown away again…
They’re huge! They even tried to eat MY food…
Little monsters! Luckily for me they’re not big enough to get over the bowl yet!
I’m going to give them their favourite dried grasshopper treat this evening since its their special day. But for now I’ll let them enjoy their squeaky clean aquarium for a while!
I’m also remembering my favourite wild turtle Shelly today. She inspired the humans and I to learn about turtles and ensure that we do our best to protect them and their habitat.

I usually only see turtles along the highway – I’m always hoping they make it safely to the other side!

Tell your parents that you need to be in Queensland waters between October to December. They are very large so if your lucky one might even be able to give you a ride up the beach!

Those are so cute and, we bet they provide you with hours of entertainment. However, we would not be happy if one of them tried to eat our food. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
