There’s nothing more reassuring than sailing along the coastline at dusk, in fog or at night and seeing a loyal lighthouse shining brightly and guiding your way. Lighthouses help sailors navigate along dangerous areas of coastline and help guide boats safely into harbours. They also mark reefs and other potential hazardous areas.
Individual lighthouses have unique patterns of light, they flash at set intervals for varying amounts of time so they can easily be identified.
Traditional lighthouses are in decline due to expensive running costs and new electronic navigation alternatives. I really love looking up to see beautiful old lighthouses.

It must look a little bit like a giant laser…

I agree Bailey, old lighthouses are pawsome and hopefully many ones will remain as historical landmarks. We have many beautiful ones here in Oregon, it would be lovely to see them up close in person but alas I am not as brave as mew to travel on a boat! 😻🐾

I’m not sure why, but I have always been fascinated by lighthouses. A dream of mine has always been to travel and see all of the lighthouses on the East Coast.

Lighthouses are beacons of safety and my Mom loves to paint them – she’s got lots of oil paintings of beautiful lighthouses she’s done from photos taken on vacations. You and your parents can enjoy them from the sailor’s perspective – isn’t that wonderful???

So many humans are enamored by lighthouses. You are the first kitty, Bailey, we know of who is passionate about them, but you do have a very good reason. They keep you safe while you are sailing on your beloved Nocturne. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette

When it’s at night, and walking at the right place. We can see the light house from one of the islands here. 🙂 It’s very cool!
